Excitement ripples through the air with the news! The Odysseus lander had indeed made it to the moon, landing on Malapert A, South Pole on February 22, 2024!
50 Years in the Making
This is an amazing feat and the first lander, and moon landing, to return to the Moon’s surface, since the 1972’s Apollo 17’s mission. This celebrates the coming together of creatives worldwide, as part of the Lunar Codex, only one of the payloads on Intuitive Machines’ Odysseus lander.
With this successful landing, The Artemis Accords have acknowledged the Odysseus– including all of its payloads– as an Artemis Accords Heritage Site.
What is the Lunar Codex?
Created by Dr. Samuel Peralta, the Lunar Codex is a lunar time capsule representing “35,000 contemporary artists, writers, musicians and filmmakers. from 233 countries, territories, and indigenous nations.”
Just amazing! I’m thrilled to be a part of the Lunar Codex. Raise your glass, as we celebrate this great feat.
In the coming months, we’ll have more amazing launches and space news as more private companies work alongside NASA during our current space race.
