Find your dragon!

When I started working on A Dragon’s Destiny, I never thought about the category. To be honest, it was the first time that I started a story using first person POV, but Jasmine just appeared. And this new adult, time travel fantasy romance was born.

And the more she talked, the more I started to realize that this young woman has a story to tell, and she’s chosen me to bring it to life.

I like Jasmine (Jaz), and she reminds me of how I’d question everything but also be quick to believe anything that offered a glimmer of hope. She’s sort of touch, a cynic sometimes, but she is searching for a better way to experience life, and trying to crawl from under the existence she’s been able to create.

Well, throw in a handsome man that wants more than a friendship; a mother who can somehow or another perform magic tricks, and tons of people talking about the supernatural and pantheons filled with Norse deities, and that is the path this story took me on.

When I started this book, I thought I was crazy.

The idea seemed to be too big — Norse Mythology, add a dragon, a necromancer and some theology in there to mix it all up. I thought for sure I was biting off more than I could WRITE.

Writing mystery is different from romance and fantasy. For mystery, it is about making sure the clues are there; but for romance, it is about the emotions. I needed to make these people in my head come to life. How could I do that?

I was inspired by the character of Alistair from Dragon Age. You see, Alistair, although a hero, is quite tortured. But at the end of the game, if you play it correctly, you might just end up falling in love with the character you’ve spent hours getting to know.

When I finally typed the end, I realized that I wasn’t ready to let these people and their world go … I want more, and so I’m starting on the second book in the series — A Dragon’s Desire. You see, I feel that if I keep writing these two people (and creating their time traveling tales, filled with Magic, Norse mythology, dragons and a lot of emotion),m you too might get a chance to fall in love with them too! So, download your copy of the excerpt (the first 4 chapters), which is around 50 pages!

I hope you will enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed crafting it. Not only because I’m a hopeless romantic and believe that in all of us a dragon is waiting to be unleashed, but also because I’d like to think that part of growing up is embracing hope, and letting go of life’s curse to reach one’s true destiny.
